how i like my poetry

i don’t like ambiguous poetry.

i like my poetry to be blunt and raw and straight to the point, like how i wish i could be.

no fancy figurative language to cover up the truth leaping off my tongue. just me and the pen.

that’s how i like my poetry.

Agreed, ambiguity in excess is a trap, I don’t want to have to sift through too many metaphors or make giant leaps of faith to understand every poem.

Exactly. I almost want the poem to hit me in the gut because of its straightforwardness but also have the hit softened by a little bit of purposeful and beautiful figurative language.
